Sustainability of the leather production

Vegetable tanning outlasted many centuries, until the middle of the 19th century, the chemical industry revolutionized the tanning trade. Much of the processed leather is produced today under ecologically and morally questionable conditions, because in the conventional chrome tanning fall of many polluting substances, for which there are only limited "sustainable" solutions . The poisoning case runs through the entire cycle of the material and affects much more than just the production conditions, waste and contaminated by heavy metals wastewater.

A timeless product requires timeless materials and a reasonable manufacturing conditions . Our vegetable tanned leather is produced in a complex process using well-proven, natural additives, such as bark wood of chestnut. HOLZRICHTER abandons any use of Chromium, checks the waiver forbidden dressing substances such as azo dyes , PCP or DMF and ensures compliance with stringent European environmental directives. Continually developing environmentally and socially responsible framework is based here on a number of defined policies:

1. Minimization of environmentally hazardous substances during the tanning. This includes tools for tanning , solvents and detergent.

2. Reduction of polluting processes and frameworks at the production.

3. Cleaning of wastewater and recovery of chemical additives. Conservation of energy and raw materials during production .
